My
grandmother is
92, and
although she
has lived a life
true, lately she
does not eat
well, sleep well,
think well, but
oh well. She
lived through a
World war, a
Cold war, a
Close war and
Far war, but far
worse: a Love
war. Then
grandpa
passed… a
Time war. She
looked on as
her own
children were
taken from her
by a Clan war,
and before her
prayers found
the Merciful’s
throne, she
heard through
beards pious
grown atone
their curious
tongues
howling for the
devil’s own:
blood in a GOD
war! These
days they say
she says
confusing
things. She no
longer asks
what year it is,
she asks what
War it is. She
heard people
have even run
out of wars in
real life and
have invented
Star wars, Mind
wars and
Online wars. So
when the news
came from
Twitter that the
Kenyans intend
to bomb her
town, where
memory is as
old as sound,
she’s asking:
What War is
this?
