My first serious poem was written in Form One, more than 10 years ago. I don’t know what you mean by ‘independent piece away from school work’

What inspires your writing?

I map my world on a mirror and write the reflection.

I’m a Biomedical Scientist by
profession, most times a general
Research Consultant.

Do have any a.k.a s? Stage name?

My government name is Richard M. Oduor. Richie Maccs is a shortened version of the government name. I think it suffices for your question.

What do you think is man’s greatest invention?

Pen and paper.

Who is that person you’ve always admired and why?

Noam Chomsky. Analytical philosophy.

If the world ends tomorrow. What would you do till then?

Not much. Have a lazy day.

If you were a cartoon character, who would that be?

I don’t watch cartoons.

I’m a writer. Performance subordinates my writing.

If you could choose a career without education and stuff, you’d be?

Painting.

What do you think of the Kenyan creative and artistic industry?

There is a re-awakening; a re-
imagination of the African literary
space and I love that. This Century is Africa’s literary renaissance. I hope I’ll
be a major player, just like Chinua, Soyinka, Angira, Ogot, Okot, et al defined the last.
