Last weeks featured poet Namatsi Lukoye, had this to say to us …

I am two things.

1. The moving wind…

I hate being stagnant doing nothing., I have to be doing something.

2. Like an onion I have many layers and coats, multi-talented; i can dance, make clothes, do interior design, draw, paint, take photos.

When did you pen your first independent piece (away from school work)?

I think I was in class 5.

What inspires your writing ?

The daily happenings of life inspire me. The people I meet; everything happens for a reason and everyone has a story

Do have any A.K .A s? Stage name?

I have never been good with coming up with stage names… but I am lucky I have unique beautiful names.

What do you think is man’s greatest invention?

I think man’s greatest invention was ink!

Who is that person you’ve always admired and why?

I greatly admire Susan Githuku, one of my bosses; she has a free soul and so many ideas. She is always on the move and not just doing normal things, doing things that are extraordinary – changing the world. She gave me my first writing job and through this job I found myself then gained confidence. If I could change someone’s life the way she did mine then I would be ready to die.

The world ends tomorrow. What do you do till then?

I would ask him (Richie) to hold me till I am no more.

If you were a cartoon character, who would that be?

Chowder or Eliot kid (our imaginations are the same)

Three words to describe your brain…

An ant hill.

That song that never gets boring to your ears?

“Ebeneezer” by Angela Chibalonza (the best prayer song in the whole
world)

“I look to you” by Whitney
huoston… very spiritual

What’s your preference? Writing Or performing (poetry)?

Writing. I am amazed by what I write sometimes.

If you could choose a career without education and stuff, what you be?

If only shopping was a career.

What do you think of the Kenyan creative and artistic industry?

Kenya only appreciates 10 % of art: everything we focus on is  commercial!!! How many schools have art and craft? How many do music and woodwork?

Any random question that you’d like to ask the world?

Really?
