GET TO KNOW: ACHIENG ODHIAMBO

We had aimage conversation with the featured poet of the week, one Achieng Odhiambo. This is what she had to say:

How can you describe yourself in a summarized manner?

I’ll use two words, creative and reserved.

When did you pen your first independent piece (away from school work)?

I was in school, 16, but I didn’t know it was poem then, I was just writing for the fun of it.

What inspires your writing ?

Music, I write to beats, and I would also say society.

Apart from writing what else do you do?

I work for an investment company.

Do have any a.k .a s? Stage name?

Nope, its just Achieng Odhiambo, I’m not the a.k.a type of person,

What do you think is man’s greatest invention?

The internet.

Who is that person you’ve always admired and why?

My mother, basically she raised my brother and I alone, and i know she has sacrificed a lot for us, I’ve never met anyone stronger and I love her to bits.

The world ends tomorrow. What would you do till then?

honestly?? haha..i would go have sex.

If you were a cartoon
character, who  would that be?

I watch the most dumb cartoons in the world,so that will be pretty hard to say. 🙂

Three words to describe your brain…

Complex, complex, and complex..sometimes I find it even hard to understand myself.

That song that never gets boring to your ears?

Common feat John Legend “Believe”. For some reason I’m always humming the chorus every morning.

What’s your preference? Writing Or performing (poetry)?

Writing.

If you could choose a career without education and stuff, you’d be?

A poet.

What do you think of the Kenyan creative and artistic industry?

I think it has the most talented
people, sad that there isn’t any
consistency, we so used to being broke artists that if we make a break through…we go shitty.

Any  random question that you’d like to ask The world?

nope… the world already knows wasup, its up to each and every individual to be the lead for a better society.
